The DRS is a circular recovery model in which PET, glass, and aluminum beverage containers ranging from 0.1 L to 3 L are sold with a deposit fee, and this fee is refunded to the consumer when the containers are returned to designated collection points.
The mandatory DRS, operated by the Turkish Environment Agency, is a comprehensive infrastructure that ensures single-use beverage packaging is recycled while preserving its physical integrity and enables the deposit fee to be refunded through a digital ecosystem.
DOA refers to beverage containers included in the deposit-return system. The recycling process begins when these containers are returned, ensuring that valuable resources are returned to the economy.
Deposit-bearing packaging is validated within the system upon delivery to authorized return points and directed to the recovery process. Users receive their deposit back with each successful return, while also contributing to environmental sustainability. In this way, the system supports the conservation of natural resources and integrates packaging into the circular economy.
Every beverage container included in the system bears a special DOA security logo printed by the Mint. Thanks to this high-security logo, it can be quickly and reliably verified that the container is part of the Deposit Return Scheme.
