The Conference of the Parties (COP) is the supreme decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Every year, representatives from 198 countries gather to assess progress against the Paris Agreement and negotiate binding commitments on emissions reductions, climate finance, and adaptation support.
COP31 in Brisbane arrives at a decisive juncture. Following the Global Stocktake at COP28, the climate finance agreement at COP29, and the Belém Roadmap at COP30, 2026 is the year that ambition must become action. Nations are expected to submit significantly enhanced Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) — the backbone of the global effort to limit warming to 1.5°C.
Australia, as a high-income Pacific nation and significant fossil fuel exporter, faces particular scrutiny as host. The world will watch whether the host country can model the domestic policy transformations it is charged with facilitating globally.

Combating climate change, using resources efficiently, and transitioning to a circular economy require shared solutions on a global scale.
We are bringing the experience we have gained in Turkey in the areas of deposit-return systems, recycling technologies, and the circular economy to international stakeholders as part of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP31. By participating in the COP31 Green Zone, we are aligning the solutions we have developed locally with global sustainability goals and sharing our implementation experience in Turkey on an international scale.
With the DOA Reverse Vending Machine we will be showcasing in the COP31 Green Zone, we will demonstrate in practice how deposit-bearing beverage containers can be returned and incorporated into the recycling process. Through this application, we will highlight the role of deposit return systems in reducing waste, using resources efficiently, and reintroducing packaging into the economy.
As REVEGO, we support the expansion of transformation—which begins locally—to a global scale; through our work in deposit return systems and recycling technologies, we contribute to the development of the circular economy.
We will also take part in the panel “Environmental Benefits of Deposit Return Schemes”, where we will address how deposit return systems help reduce packaging waste, improve resource efficiency and return valuable materials to the economy through recycling.
